Can Solar Power Be Stored?

Solar power is captured with the help of solar panels and used in households as an alternative to the grid power supply. It is an excellent way to reduce grid power consumption and hence is also effective in reducing utility bills.

However, the real question is, what if all the generated solar energy is not used? Does it get stored? Let’s find out

How is solar power stored?

Solar power is stored in batteries. Solar systems come with inverters and batteries. Which batteries store the solar energy for future use. You will also find solar systems that are grid-tied with battery backups.

The solar panels convert the sun’s energy into DC power, which then travels into the batteries and is stored until being used. Of all of the solar systems installed worldwide every year, less than 1% of them utilize battery technology to store solar energy.

In India, solar companies do provide batteries along with the system.
